ABOUT THE ARTIST

A.J. Miller is an award-winning professional illustrator, with a love for creating images and blending color for the past 55 years. He began his career with airbrush on motorcycles while serving in the U.S. Air Force. The G.I. Bill education benefits made formal art school possible in Detroit at the Center for Creative Studies.  After several years as a designer, art director, and illustrator, A.J. launched his freelance career in 1980, in Detroit. Then in 1983, he relocated to the Tampa Bay area. His illustration quality, attention to detail and versatility has been used in a wide variety of industries. There have been many awards through the years but he is especially honored by the Gold and Silver medals awarded in several annual National Veterans Creative Artists Festivals. Locally his awards include Best of Show in Tampa and Clearwater.

Along with traditional art tools, A.J. is also highly skilled with digital techniques. He states: “I am enjoying this continual evolution from traditional art tools into today’s digital art tools.”

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Uncomman Error, a.k.a. Andrew Phillips, is a free thinker who tinkers with technique, as well as ideas. His recent work is a result of experimentation with photography and drawing.

Born and raised in Oklahoma, Andrew moved to Florida in his 20's, gaining employment with a real estate lawyer. Shortly after leaving that position, he attended the University of Florida with a focus on science, but eventually found himself turning to a focus on photography. After some contemplation, he decided to move to New York City and was able to work with stylists and makeup brands to further his vision of becoming a photographer. In 2020 he left NYC due to some losses and the pandemic, and then found himself living in Kentucky for a year and discovering his joy for creating all types of art. He has been in Saint Petersburg since 2021, and feels he has finally found his home and place to create and show his artwork.

The exhibition reception will be held April 19th from 5 - 8 pm with live rockabilly music by Leon Barickkman
